Dailypost photo challenge: cover art-The memory of trees

the memory of trees

This week’s daily post photo challenge has Iinspired me to think of a favourite album and to create my own cover art. My choice of album is Enya’s ‘The memory of trees’.  If you don’t know it I can thoroughly recommend Enya’s effortlessly relaxing music. I often play ‘The Memory of trees’ when I’m practising daily yoga, meditating, writing or just enjoying relaxing. I enhanced my shot with ‘Pics art’ editing tools to hopefully give that dreamy quality and remind me of autumn. I hope you like it. Below is the link to many more entries.

Om Yam Om

Om Yam Om

We all cope with life’s challenges in different ways. As you know I love nature and everything natural and find the power of nature very healing. I love this peaceful image of the closeness of the geese, safely warming themselves on the opposite bank of the Grand Union Canal near Tring.
This post is called ‘Om Yam Om’ because it is a healing Bija mantra(sounds) for the Anahata chakra (heart chakra). I’ve been sounding this lovely mantra as part of my yoga practice. I’ve also been working on a yoga asana sequence from Swami Ambikananda’s book, ‘Healing yoga’, to purify my mind and body through balancing the heart chakra. This chakra governs the impulses of all the communication systems in the body, particularly that of the nervous system.
The experience of working to balance the heart chakra is very calming. We can all open, speak through our hearts, listen to our hearts and feel peace.
You can find out more about the chakras and mantras here, where there is a utube mantra video too.

Writing challenge: Health

For this challenge we were asked to consider the importance of our health.
My health has its ups and downs and I find writing helps me to focus, feel grounded and connected. I love it!
The photo was taken on our wedding day last year, we had a lovely day with dear relatives and friends. My uncle was at the time and is still in extremely poor health and yet he travelled several hundred miles to be part of our celebration.
