Winter finds

Winter lakeside:

Grey pools binding

With silver speckled rinds;

Threads and reeds surfing

Across leafy waves,

Warmed by gentle waves.

Winter is hanging on, but I like its inky beauty and sparkling surprises.

Winter walks

January’s lamp black trees

Dripping tears.

Weeping tangled larches

Tickling lichen bark;

Crows huddled in puddles,

Riddles in ink blotted dark skies.

Welly prints in sticky mud;

Children dropping crumbs

From winter tarts.

Happy New Year! Stride out on winter walks, feeling crisp air brushing your cheeks. Stop and listen to the birds. Watch the wintery dark tree branches dancing in bracing wind. Welcome January!

Dancing Kitten Tails

Even though bitter winds can make me cringe:
Tears fall like salty streams.
Dancing kitten tails, ginger tinged,
Soft and kissed by sunshine beams.

I love this time of year when the sunshine peeps through the charcoal trees, lighting up the beautiful Hazel catkins and dancing on the trees. Sometimes taking a photograph can be challenging when it’s cold and windy and I have to sweep away the tears!

Frosty seeds and winter trees

This Solar print was inspired by my moonlit frosty dog walks. The seedheads were encrusted with ‘fairy dust’ reaching out to the moon.

This solar print was inspired by my photos of trees in winter, taken In what I call the ‘Fairy wood’; a beautiful, quiet, well planted woodland where we often walk. Every day there is something new to see. The Green Woodpecker has been a recent visitor. My dogs love to chase squirrels and jump over the piles of logs, the woodland is a natural Green Gym.

Gentle Sentinels

Their bark is
A precious parchment,
Marked for
Charts;
Sealed sonnets
Secreted in bonnets;
Miniaturised messages
Saved in lockets.
The great Silver Birch
Waves mirthfully,
Saving a waning
Winter’s day.

Glistening yield

glistening yield Cople

Sauntering sodden fields,

Watching watery, wintery

Skies shyly shielding

A glistening yield:

border collies sauntering sodden fields

Twinkling beaded seeds,

Wrought, listening reeds

Among apricot tinted

Streams and meads.

twinkling beaded seeds

Around the village of Cople in Bedfordshire, there are many quiet country walks where because the land is fairly flat one can enjoy sauntering, seeing where one ends up just walking the many old footpaths and bridleways. My dogs are always happy splashing in puddles whilst I breathe in nature’s yield, watching a brown Hare or listening to nature’s harpsicord, the stream. Nothing was more magical than wandering along the track as the sun gradually sunk, gone for another wonderfully rich day.

Rainbow dew

rainbow dewShivering,

Inkblot sky,

Drenching its thirst

With a candle glow like burst:

A shimmering birth,

Arcing the universe

As rainbow dew

Soaks the earth,

Infusing hope

And

Rejuvenation.

It is always a special moment watching a rainbow appearing on the horizon, then fading into a calming sky followed by a sunburst. Even though I was drenched, I felt rejuvenated by its luminosity and beauty.
