Wild briar rose

Wild briar rose,Sun soaked face,

Petals as sheer as fine lace;

Like a dancer on tip toes

Wearing silky pink bows,

Silently pirouetting.

Suddenly a brazen breeze

Brings a helter shelter of

Hawthorn mizzle.

She shelters under a petal glaze

Forlorly marooned in scented dew.

Calming Cowslips

image

Calming cowslips,
A remedy of old:
Sip three spoonfuls of flowers
Steeped in a powerful mead.

Time for a bountiful spring we’re told.
Yellow fairy bells in sparkling ruby finery,
Tinkling on a breezy evening
As golden sunshine winks and leaves.

Secret Scabious

scabious

Field Scabious,

Secretively peeping

From the fringes of

A shady lane,

Where weeping reeds

And sweeping leaves

Shelter them from

Melting in the

Sweltering summer sunshine.
