Serene tree

Recently I decided to do a series of very quick sketches inspired by my local walks with the dogs. Next I thought about translating a serene feeling I always have when walking at that location, the trees dangling branches in the stream and the winter light. The result was my oil painting above, painted in 3 hours. I hope you enjoy looking at it and the sketches.

Enjoy your day.

Magical sky

2015-09-28 17.39.09-1-01

I took this photo on the evening of the eclipse. I can only describe to you the atmosphere was just so magical and the sky was pure poetry!

I woke up at 3.00am gmt and ventured into our garden to watch the blood moon emerge as the eclipse took place. I shared the experience with the Piperstrelle bats which were swooping about. It was amazing. Unfortunately I had forgotten my camera and didn’t want to wake hubby who had an early start for work.:-)

Share your world: musings

blow away the cobwebs2

What is your favourite time of day?
I love to walk through the meadow on a bright early morning because I feel it is such a special and magical time to experience nature. The delicate intoxication of wild honeysuckle rambling through a hedgerow, a skylark diving or the delicate autumnal jewels dangling on hogweed cobwebs enrich my world.
Sunsets are special too. As the rippling silken sky succumbs to darkness my musings begin.

musings

How do you spend a rainy day?
Rainy days still have their fascination. Out come the wellies and waterproofs and off we go to watch the inky clouds rumble, clash and spit spreading like the inkblot I love to analyse and use as a prompt to a poem or a character in a story. Later after hot tea and toast I seek solace in an old secondhand paperback.
When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pen or pencil?
I like to use a good roller ball pen or drawing pen because the writing flows effortlessly.
Bonus question. What are you grateful for from last week and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am eternally grateful for my dog walker who has walked my dogs when my back was very sore. This week I am looking forward to feeling better and enjoying this extraordinary mild sunny autumn.

Spring sun melts

Image

Spring sun melts

Spring sun melts
Any mental anguish felt.
Sentinel beings,
Energise the ‘seers’

Nature’s sleepy tones,
Groan from aged
Tree holes.
Hooded nymphs glimpse
Into the lives of meek
Lonely souls.</

I was with my friend and two dogs in Knebworth country park on a beautiful spring evening. We walked through the churchyard where she introduced me to her ancestors sleeping peacefully. The birds were chirping softly and the aroma of bluebells was quite entrancing. As the dogs played, we watched the sun melt at the end of a perfect evening, melting thoughts and worries of the day.

Reflecting on yesterday’s goodness

Reflecting on yesterday's goodness

Reflecting on the goodness and
Vitality of yesterday
Makes today special.

Watching the sun going down and listening to nature’s lullaby inpired me to reflect and take forward that moment in time to the next day. Live every day as a special day.

Weekly photo challenge: Horizon

image

Welcoming weekend
ramblers
Sauntering;
Sunny faces
Seeping fading
Sleepy rays,
Catching the
Final glimpse
of gliding
Swans
And
Sweeping
Gulls
Before
The horizon
Melts
Like a
Golden,
Caramelized
Butter sauce.

This poem and photo is my response to post a days photo challenge,’horizon’,  We thought the day was going to possibly be one of the final, sunny, warm days of the year: it was indeed and the whole world seemed to turn out to enjoy an afternoon stroll. The photo was taken by the river near Hertford, Hertfordshire.

Unwinding

image

Unwinding
On the ‘downs’
Quietly cooling
Sun beams like a
Heavenly
Searchlight.
Breaking away,
Granulated greys
And
Lurking
Purples:
Peacefully
The sun sighs,
Melting,
Mesmerising.
The perfect
Ending to
A beautiful
Autumnal
Day.

This week’s writing challenge from the daily post, inspires us to write a recipe about ourselves, which ingredients makes the writer in us ‘cook’ our novels or poetry.  I hope you enjoy mine.

I’ve had a problem recently receiving comments in my spam box and also my wordpress friends tell me they sometimes find my comments in their spam box. I believe it’s happening to a few of us, which is a shame, so folks don’t forget to check your spam.

Magical evening

image

As evening weaves
Her magic,
Soft, rippling
Waves,
Lulls signets and chicks
Into a web of
Nurturing dreams.

As serenity captures
The sun’s cooling rays,
Evening sighs
And closes
Her eyes.
