A winter patchwork warms our heart

As the nights draw in in December, I feel it is a time for reflection and so I have decided to look back over my first year of blogging with wordpress and post a selection of pictures and writing, quotes and poems.  It’s funny how these first walks in the countryside armed with at the time my phone camera and a small notepad, have come flooding back to me and reminded me of the peace and tranquillity of these special moments in the day when it was all mine to find the ‘essence’ and write from my heart.  I hope you enjoy anyway!

 

 

 

A Winter Patchwork

 

Winter sky,

Diamond sparkling,

Patchwork fields

Fluffy,

Snugly snow,

Cattle gather

Munching

in furrows aglow.

Winter weaves
Dreams of
Summer’s lush
Leaves;
Autumn’s sanguine
Song,
Breathing meanly
Cooling
The land.

Winter weaves
Willows’ writhe;
Hazels’ howl;
Vixens’ prowl;
Squirrels squeal;
Hawks scream.
Deer dream.

Winter weaves
A breaching
River race:
Herons’ watch,
Gracefully.

Winter weaves
Barren branches
Reaching;
Cerulean skies
Fleeting.
Dreaming.
Weaving.

Wise garden gate

Garden gate
Creaks apologetically,
Proudly protecting
The spirited woodland
Flowers,
Towers of ivy
Secreting lovers
Poetry
And plump
Opinionated
Peonies standing proudly.

Old  Boots and clogs
Scuffle, shuffle.
Dainty slippers,
Hide amongst old oaks,
Waiting to be found.

Elegantly embroidered
Shoes,
Skipping beneath
Romantic boughs,
Pregnant with blossom.
Whilst they whisper
Their wildest thoughts,
Chastity keeps
Them apart.

Magical evening

As evening weaves
Her magic,
Soft, rippling
Waves,
Lulls signets and chicks
Into a web of
Nurturing dreams.

As serenity captures
The sun’s cooling rays,
Evening sighs
And closes
Her eyes.

A winter patchwork

Winter blue sky, diamond sparkling snuggly patchwork fields of fluffy snow Cattle gather munching finds in furrows aglow.

Reflectons

This morning’s wonderful,uplifting walk along the snowy lane, almost dream like. Perhaps these ducks and goose are from a fairytale reminding us to reflect on nurturing, family and the importance of community spirit. Hopefully on these cool, icy days we’ll ‘thaw’ and remember those around us who may need us.
