Shoots produding,
Shiny Buds swelling,
Pussy willow a silver sensation!
Petals waxy, honey sweet.
Catkins like knitted fingers;
Golden rays warming
Our hearts on cold days;
Shoots produding,
Shiny Buds swelling,
Pussy willow a silver sensation!
Petals waxy, honey sweet.
Catkins like knitted fingers;
Golden rays warming
Our hearts on cold days;
In the winter sunshine, the garden looks bright and cheerful after the lull after deep winter wild weather. Hellebores are so delicate, peeping beneath glossy leaves. Very few tiny snowdrops have decided to appear over the last couple of years. They are always such a joy to see. I’ll be taking the dogs on a local snowdrop walk soon to look for different varieties within the snowdrop carpet, underneath the tree canopy.
I hope you are all enjoying a cosy Sunday, wherever you are. Warm wishes.x
Crumbling stones
Gently moan.
Creeping foliage,
Home to mice,
Owls and bones.
Ramblers
Seeking solace,
Listen to
Nature’s songs.
Even on a winter’s afternoon, Ayot St. Lawrence’s ruined church is still romantic and beautiful. Tiny snowdrops surround the ancient graves like frozen tears. After our walk, we sat in the car drinking tea from a flask and eating home-made cake, whilst I scribbled away in my notebook.  Hertfordshire has so many delightful and atmospheric  villages to explore.
Serene Snowdrops,
Soulful,
Sometimes
Woeful.
Gallantly graceful,
Forever hopeful.
Snowdrops
‘consolation and hope’

On a lovely peaceful walk around the village of Kimpton, Hertfordshire, we came across these serene Snowdrops,delicately grouped around the old trees,lighting up the winter’s day. Â I’m reading the above amazing book at the moment and found Victoria’s meaning very appropriate. Â I hope you enjoy my post.
Snowdrops are like angels’ tears of joy
Appearing when our hearts are forlorn
Brooding over dense, gloomy skies.
Abundantly they sway their demure heads in
Sweet, gentle spring breezes,
Chattering together on the banks of village lanes.
Spring brings hope and happiness to all of us.
