Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandonment

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandonment

Grand anchor,
Languishing abandoned,
Sinking in silt and shingle;
Seeping salty tales
Of billowing sails
On crescendo gales.
Breached and reached
Barnacle braille
Tales of whales
And ancient
Sailors’ ways.

Salty sailing dream

image

Beached boats,
Huddled, hoping
To sail with
The incoming
Tide.

A dreamy flotilla
Follows creeks
Through
The salt marshes,
Meditatively
Meandering.

Bitterns hoot,
Black headed
Seagulls squark,
Salty,
Sea Lavender
Seduces
Sailors.

Southerly breezes
Fill mainsails
And jibs;
Shimmering
Seaspray spits
On faces
Dried by
Samphire,
Salty
Winds.

Naturally
Heeling,
Sailors intuitively
Right their boats
As rippling
Waters
Rhythmically
Slap
Against
Their bows.

Painterly colourful,
Pristine regatta
Proudly,  powers
Out to sea
Where
Sea faring
Story
Filled clouds,
Meet
The Ocean.

Feast of Rhododendrons

image

Swards of vintage, pink chintz
Like grandiose gondolas,
Gliding along the venetian
Grand canal.
Precious purples,
Jewels of the Nile,
Proudly posing on
Feluccas reaching with
Swollen sails.
Crepe de chine greens
Scattered with eau
De nil seeds,
A grand tour
Of sensual scents
Of summertime,
A feast of magnificent
Colour.

A-Z Challenge. Letter F – Flowing Tales

image

River Nene flows
Through natural
Reserve where
Peaceful life is
Never disturbed.
Nene swells,
Reeds tangle, shaking
Their heads,
Telling tales of sailing boats
Sweeping down river,
Wind swollen mainsail
Enjoying power of nature’s flow.
