NaBloPoMo:Winter weaver

image

Winter weaves
Dreams of
Summer’s lush
Leaves;
Autumn’s sanguine
Song,
Breathing meanly
Cooling
The land.

Winter weaves
Willows’ writhe;
Hazels’ howl;
Vixens’ prowl;
Squirrels squeal;
Hawks scream.
Deer dream.

Winter weaves
A breaching
River race:
Herons’ watch,
Gracefully.

Winter weaves
Barren branches
Reaching;
Cerulean skies
Fleeting.
Dreaming.
Weaving.

NaNoWriMo: Writer’s rooms

image

I’m still trying to plan my novel and select a title, which is proving to be deflating.  So by going back to my roots as a poet and photographer, hopefully, I’ve created my writer’s room which will inspire me and others to turn those emerging thoughts into a book. Or maybe I should stick to poetry!  I hope you enjoy it anyway.

Little river rooms,
Where writer’s ideas
Loom;
Thoughts stray
Throughout the day.
Scribbled ripples,
Wandering riddles,
Flirtatious leaves,
Sensational reflections,
Reeds and deeds.

Weekly photo challenge: Horizon

image

Welcoming weekend
ramblers
Sauntering;
Sunny faces
Seeping fading
Sleepy rays,
Catching the
Final glimpse
of gliding
Swans
And
Sweeping
Gulls
Before
The horizon
Melts
Like a
Golden,
Caramelized
Butter sauce.

This poem and photo is my response to post a days photo challenge,’horizon’,  We thought the day was going to possibly be one of the final, sunny, warm days of the year: it was indeed and the whole world seemed to turn out to enjoy an afternoon stroll. The photo was taken by the river near Hertford, Hertfordshire.

A-Z writing challenge, letter L for listening to silence

image

Listen to silence.
Listen to breeze
Swishing through reeds
Writing messages to nymphs who
Pass along the meandering river
To the sea.
Listen to kingfishers dive into
The river with precision,
Proudly emerging with their catch.
Listen to the rustling of cootes
Weaving in and out of the bullrushes.
Listen to the silent crackling of
Weeping willows draping
Wispy branches solemnly.
Listen.  Listen to silence.

A-Z Writing challenge letter J Journeying

image

Journeying along
The river of time,
Expectation, resolve.
Under many bridges
With forgotten names,
Through locks where
Community spirit has
Inspired you.
Enjoy sensuality of nature.
Today, a three mile journey
Might take three hours, but
Each hour will be experienced
To the full.
Time is precious.
Your journey is precious.

A-Z Challenge. Letter F – Flowing Tales

image

River Nene flows
Through natural
Reserve where
Peaceful life is
Never disturbed.
Nene swells,
Reeds tangle, shaking
Their heads,
Telling tales of sailing boats
Sweeping down river,
Wind swollen mainsail
Enjoying power of nature’s flow.
