Dreamy Meadow

Lazily, toe by toe,

Treading on wispy grasses;

Soft silk bed of fresh miniature flora.

Soaring high –

 Skylarks, their

Singing lingers like lover’s whispers

Before vanishing through dreamy vapours.

Cow parsley’s filigree fountains

Shower the wake of Ox Eye daisies.

Hazy white petals slightly dazed,

Enjoy sherbet scented kissing wind.

Colours of autumn warm our hearts

Autumn’s rosy leaves

Warm our hearts as

We wander along the

Sheltered golden path

Of birch, ash and larch,

Weaving magical tales to

Tell by the glowing hearth.

Happy National Poetry Day!

love poetry

I love to write poetry, however there’s nothing more perfect to do on an autumnal evening than sitting in my fireside chair with a cup of tea or a glass of Damson gin reading from a favourite poet in one of my lovely old poetry books.

Today we’re celebrating everything to do with poetry on National Poetry Day. Enjoy reading a poem today. 🙂  Who are your favourite poets?

Wistful Wisteria

Beautiful Wisteria perfuming the gentle breeze coming in through the cottage window.

Make a wish whilst

Wistfully wandering

Amongst Wisteria,

As it twists

And tumbles over

A humble door.

Bumblebees soar

After collecting the

Delicate nectar:

A misty mead

perfume.

A comforting thought

A cup of tea is

A comforting thought.

A fairy bell

Tinkles in the glen!

Alerting magical waiters

To wield  their pens.

A steam of perfume

Floats about the room,

Lifting the gloom.

Quickly the tea fairy

Sweeps up the crumbs,

With her funny wee broom.

Rose,

Violets,

Forget-me-nots

And sweet lilac,

Fluted chinzy china,

Sugar sweet tickling

Lips

Rippled raspberry

Giant meringues.

Share your world: musings

blow away the cobwebs2

What is your favourite time of day?
I love to walk through the meadow on a bright early morning because I feel it is such a special and magical time to experience nature. The delicate intoxication of wild honeysuckle rambling through a hedgerow, a skylark diving or the delicate autumnal jewels dangling on hogweed cobwebs enrich my world.
Sunsets are special too. As the rippling silken sky succumbs to darkness my musings begin.

musings

How do you spend a rainy day?
Rainy days still have their fascination. Out come the wellies and waterproofs and off we go to watch the inky clouds rumble, clash and spit spreading like the inkblot I love to analyse and use as a prompt to a poem or a character in a story. Later after hot tea and toast I seek solace in an old secondhand paperback.
When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pen or pencil?
I like to use a good roller ball pen or drawing pen because the writing flows effortlessly.
Bonus question. What are you grateful for from last week and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am eternally grateful for my dog walker who has walked my dogs when my back was very sore. This week I am looking forward to feeling better and enjoying this extraordinary mild sunny autumn.

Soulful Roses

Lover’s tipsy posies

They sip dewy petal potions

As their rouched lips

Whisper

A tryst…

Jelly coloured geraniums,

Mellow ruby port hydrangeas,

Lolling,
Rollicking
In solitary meadow,
Treading tip toe,
Ready to go.
Swallows soar
Over an imaginary
Tor,
Tilting trim tails,
Sailing through
Golden rays;
Lilting limericks.
Hail! Hail!
Summer days!
