Majestically, a heron
Poises like an alabaster statuette.
When a ripple in the water
Takes his fancy,
The handsome heron
Dips quickly into the
Silent, sunlit pool.
Flipping his catch
Proudly, he moves from his patch
In a dash,
With a glinting flicker
Of feathers,
Singing in
The wind.

Magical summer morning
Watch the soothing sun stretch warm
Limbs from downy clouds like galloping
Unicorns across misty lawns.
Singing Skylarks wistfully twist
High into the watery distance,
As eaves of Barley corn kiss.
Where I live in the little village of Cople, Bedfordshire, I can go out of my garden gate with my two Border Collies and walk for miles along footpaths and bridleways which take me through fields of Barley, peas and beans and many more crops. The Barley is soon to be harvested but looks stunning at the moment, particularly in the early morning and evening light. I love to hear the corn popping in the heat. What do you love about summer? 🙂
Radiant Wild Roses
Ivy weaves
Ivy weaves glossy leaves
O’er potting shed knots
And rusty locks.
Lingering on gusty
Limbs and whispering
Wise rings.
The great ancient
Sings.
Springs is here, but winter winds bit into my dry lips and reminded me today to protect myself from the elements and keep nourished and warm. We enjoyed exploring the wild woodland and listening to their songs.
