Share your world: musings

blow away the cobwebs2

What is your favourite time of day?
I love to walk through the meadow on a bright early morning because I feel it is such a special and magical time to experience nature. The delicate intoxication of wild honeysuckle rambling through a hedgerow, a skylark diving or the delicate autumnal jewels dangling on hogweed cobwebs enrich my world.
Sunsets are special too. As the rippling silken sky succumbs to darkness my musings begin.

musings

How do you spend a rainy day?
Rainy days still have their fascination. Out come the wellies and waterproofs and off we go to watch the inky clouds rumble, clash and spit spreading like the inkblot I love to analyse and use as a prompt to a poem or a character in a story. Later after hot tea and toast I seek solace in an old secondhand paperback.
When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pen or pencil?
I like to use a good roller ball pen or drawing pen because the writing flows effortlessly.
Bonus question. What are you grateful for from last week and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am eternally grateful for my dog walker who has walked my dogs when my back was very sore. This week I am looking forward to feeling better and enjoying this extraordinary mild sunny autumn.

Daisy faze

Daisy faze

Daisy faze,
Lost in a dusty,
Citrus, hazy
Maze.
Painterly dainty dots in
Crisp linen rays.
Twisting twizzles,
Popping mops like
Fizzling sherbet
Drops.

Pixilation Sensation

Pixilation Sensation

Pixilation sensation!
Elixir elation.
Flirty
Floppy
Lolloping
Poppies,
Bopping daisies,
Faery fanfares,
Dainty cornflowers
Jauntily courting.
Butterflies cavorting!

Back to normal this week after the excitement of my son’s wedding. I’m still downloading the photographs and promise I will delight you with pictures of the joyful occasion soon! This morning, walking near the village of Sandridge near St.Albans,we came accross this amazing field blazing with summer colour. It was such a feast, too much to resist! Enjoy!

Frolicking Friend

frolicking friendFrolicking friend,
Lolling,
Rollicking
In solitary meadow,
Treading tip toe,
Ready to go.
Swallows soar
Over an imaginary
Tor,
Tilting trim tails,
Sailing through
Golden rays;
Lilting limericks.
Hail! Hail!
Summer days!

Lazy Sunday: Printmaking-poppy

image

I had great pleasure in messing about with inks and a beautiful old printing press to produce ‘poppy’, inspired by the poppies in one of my photographs and poetry early this summer.  I remember a lovely sunny walk with the dogs through a meadow in one of Northamptonshire’s most rural, unspoilt landscapes where butterflies danced with each other and I felt lulled by the comfort of the bees buzzing around, busy at work. I hope you enjoy my monotype print.

Fascinating meadow

image

The meadow’s buzzing,
Grasses jousting
Like a knights’ tournament,
Buttercups proudly
Shaking like fair
Maid’s bonnets,
Dandelion seeds
Dispersing in
Southerly
Breezes like
Sprinkles of fairy
Kisses.
Daisy charms
Adorn children
Whose footsteps
Tread, releasing
Sweet honey aromas,
Their giggles
Heard from dusk
Till dawn on
Midsummer eve.
Fawns leap
And elves weep
For joy as
The Fairy Queen
Is crowned in the
Toadstool ring.

A-Z Writing challenge ‘Y’ Yen

Even though spring is here,
Yen, tumultuously plays
With my solar plexus.
Floating through fields
Of delicate anemones and
Minute, cobalt blue, speedwell,
I am Yenning to brush past
Confident heads of wild Campions
And daisies,
Resting in the meadow,
Conversing with bees,
Picnicking in a waist
High, impressionist painter’s
Meadow,
Feeling content.
