Uplifting Rainbow

The sky darkens

Inkblots spread

Creating ghostly shadows

Swallowing the land.

Creatures hide Iin hollows

As spectral crossbows shoot

Icy arrows.

Suddenly white wings sweep

Across the shadows;

Golden breath blows

A magical rainbow of

Sparkling light.

Queens of winter days

A stormy graphite puddle
Befuddled,
Eased by teasing sunlight,
Warming treacly tree buds.
Sleeping Sweet Violets;
Weeping Speedwell peeping
From the hedgerow whilst
Snowdrops gaze:
They are of course
The Queens of winter days;
Preening for the fae.

Frosty fruity Friday

Frosty Friday
It has been a beautiful frosty day. This morning the tangled fruit bushes and hedgerows looked delicious with their tempting iced crusted leaves and frosted berries. I knew this uniquely magical moment would change so quickly, as the sun melted the frost into droplets tinkling as they rolled from one leaf to another; so I captured the essences holding my breath, not wanting to disturb the moment. My dogs, being used to many a heavy frost when we were living in Edinburgh, rolled about and played, their paws skating on iced puddles.

Roaring Tourmaline wintery skies

roaring tourmaline winter skies

Limbs of whimsical trees

Stretch and seemingly sneeze,

Retching in the icy breeze.

Through arches of Larch,

Over finials and pinnacles

Starlet particles dart

With elementals,

Soaring into a roaring

Tourmaline wintery

Infinity.

Glistening yield

Sauntering sodden fields,

Watching watery, wintery

Skies shyly shielding

A glistening yield:

Twinkling beaded seeds,

Wrought, listening reeds

Among apricot tinted

Streams and meads.

Around the village of Cople in Bedfordshire, there are many quiet country walks where because the land is fairly flat one can enjoy sauntering, seeing where one ends up just walking the many old footpaths and bridleways. My dogs are always happy splashing in puddles whilst I breathe in nature’s yield, watching a brown Hare or listening to nature’s harpsicord, the stream. Nothing was more magical than wandering along the track as the sun gradually sunk, gone for another wonderfully rich day.

Autumn is such a magical time anyway, however this autumn feels really special with its abundant gifts of beautiful fruits, bursting with healing energy. In every hedgerow and dangling from many trees are so many fruits, berries and nuts; we’re spoilt for choice. My husband made many jars of Damson jam to see us through the winter and spring.

Soulful Roses

They sip dewy petal potions

As their rouched lips

A tryst…

Foxgloves are also called ‘Fairy petticoats’ and ‘Fairy thimbles’. There are three symbolic meanings of this beautiful wild flower: insincerity, youth and a wish. I see them everywhere on my walks decorating the borders along fields. Often as I get closer, a baby rabbit peeps its head out and leaps about amongst the grasses and flowers.
