Fanciful Fritillary

 Fanciful Fritillary

Fanciful Fritillary
Smiles through bonnet,
Seated playing her Lyre,
Sweetly lilting a sonnet.
Swaying in glittering rays,
Fairy messengers
Sing songs of praise.
Tingling, mingling,
The hazy day’s
Healing ways:
Fairies linger
Stroking Fritillaries
Stamens.

Merry Mahonia

Merry Mahonia,
Citrus signature,
Nestling in
Evergreen;
Bursting brightly,
Refreshingly gleaming,
Illuminating
Dull misty
Days.

Gardener’s delight

image

As warm days fade,
The gardener is proud
Of what’s been made
By fork and spade
And nature’s magical ways.
Loud bursts of orange,
Punctuated with pink,
Daft dashes of
Laughing lemons:
Reflecting a season
Of the gardener’s
Signature taste.

Weekly Photo challenge: Nature’s my companion

image

A cuckoo wakes me
From my slumber,
Sunbeams warm
My face,
I venture out
To my garden
Brimming
With cherished
Cottage garden
Flowers,
Shades of
Fondant fancies
and
Tumbling
Roses, frilly
Favourites
Of my youth.
Gathering
Notebook
And camera,
I start the
Adventure
With my
Collies
At my side.
We walk
Along the
Country lane,
Surrounded
By white confetti
Hedgerows.
Cabbage White
And Orange tip,
Dart about
Like inquisitive
Chaperones.
When evening comes
In sultry moans,
The breeze intones
A lulling soft woe;
Stillness follows
In soft focus
Dimming daylight.
I sit undisturbed
To soak up nature,
Forever
My companion.

The weekly challenge is to post a photograph which is inspired by the word ‘companionable’. As usual I’ve written a poem to match my photo. I hope you enjoy it.daily-prompt-companionable

Honeysuckle feast

image

Honeysuckle’s
Honey fingers,
Dipped in prickly
Pink sugar,
Drizzling deliciously
Over a glorious cup cake.
Honey bees satiated,
Hawk moths furtively
Feasting at midnight,
As honeysuckle
Releases
Heavenly perfume.

Weekly photo challenge: The world through your eyes

Weekly photo challenge- a story captured in a frame, ‘the photographer’s eye’Nurturing narrative

image

Nurturing the gardens,
Tending to shoots
And vines.
Whiling away time,
She listens to
Nature’s narrative,
Finding it gently curative.
Feeding and watering,
Meditatively, patiently.
She enjoys the shower
Of summer raindrops,
Refreshingly restorative
And the company of bees,
Thrumming, diving
Into friendly foxgloves.
Curious robins
Play hide and seek,
Sparrows wait for a treat.
Undisturbed the gardener
Weeds her needs and
Sighs with satisfaction
Before retiring for
The night.
