Weekly Photo Challenge: Layers: Layers of time

image

Layers of leaves,
Maturing over
Many years
Of stormy winds,
Shaking trees.
Magnificent
Colours,
Russet,
Mottled olive;
Fatefully fluttering,
Flaking and fainting;
Mingling,
Tingling
With frost;
Splattered
With raindrops,
Rhythmically
Singing
A lullaby
For creatures
Snuggling
In the moss.

NaBloPoMo:Furry Friday: Furry Ramble

image

Rambling,
Sampling woodland’s
Mysterious planting.
A green woodpecker
Catches my eye,
Feasting on the forest floor,
Fleeting through an
Oak nook ‘door’.
The collies love to roam
Chasing off a forest gnome,
A robin red breast hops,
Flopping amongst the moss.
Squirrels scramble in the leaves
Time to amble home for tea.

NaBloPoMo:Curious conkers

image

Curious conkers,
Prickly protection,
Secret affection.
Chivalrous chestnut,
Galloping eyes;
Smooth, sleek,
Fiery and meek;
Ghostly mane
Like a train
As the chestnut
Unicorn’s gaze
Fades into
The forest.

Forest glade

image

Rambling through
A forest glade,
Footsteps fade
Cushioned by
Plush mossy
Carpet,
Serendipitously
Made.
Flaked crispness:
Baked, blistered
Leaves fall
On a mournful
Lawn.
Hawks soar;
Glistening haws.
Scampering claws
Spiraling trunks
For tasty nuts.

Notes of claret,
Crushing blushing
Berries,
Musty moulds
Sticking
On toes,
Dogs noses
In holes;
Time to
Be traipsing
Home.

Fungi dawn

image

Fungi adore
An autumnal
Dawn,
As dew saturates
The forest floor;
Sunlight seeps sleekly
Through cracks
In the canopy:
Fragile fruits
Multiply frantically,
Thrusting through
Miles of mycota matrices.
Thousands of
Peeping forest
Faces;
Blackened
And tattered,
Inked with a
Stink;
Shiny,
Slimy;
Pale and
Spinal;
Hot and
Spotted;
Purple and
Mottled;
Thrilling pink
Gills which
Chillingly
Kill.

Fairy Staircase

image

Tiny delicate patter of feet,
Dance up and down the
Fairy staircase,
Stopping at imaginary doorways
To enter worlds of castles and
Crystal crested forests
in shades of grey and amethyst.
Onyx mists swirl, hiding sinister
Dark shadows.

Enchanted

image

Enchanted wood groans and moans, Whispers & weeps. Tormented, alone, lost Her voice echoing ‘lost, lost’ Crushing, trampling Damp resinous forest carpet, Dizzy, blinded by the diffusion Straining her thin neck Gnarled, twisted , contorted Regal branches of ancient cedar A dryad allures her to climb the boughs And knots. She remembers past lives: pharaohs, princes, fairy tale castles, Bloody battles, beautiful icecap mountains and sailing in an electric storm. She reaches the warm, tree house on top of the canopy Where there is nothing but peace.
