Fly away with me
Over the stark moon,
Far beyond the
Darkening trees
Where wee fae lark
Playing tunes on
Silver spoons:
Whilst three cloaked
Folk cast runes.
“Don’t stray
Where amber eyes
Prey”.
There in the shadows
Crones moan and cackle
And bones rattle
Below in the gallows.
mermaids shake
In the shallows.
Weird sallow worms
Wake as the cauldron
Quakes;
Feared fakes
Tumble,
Crumble,
Spit and bake.
Just for a change I thought I’d blog about a fun way of making art. This painterly printing technique is called ‘Monotype’. It has this name because each print is unique. The ink is rolled out on the metal plate (see top photo), then using brushes, fingers or rags, marks can be made to create a painting or design on the plate. In my monotype, ‘Faery moon’ I used the end of a paintbrush, my finger and a small palette knife to get the picture I wanted to create. Actually Faery moon just seemed to emerge like magic, much like my poetry. I love the colours! The messy process finished, I put paper onto the plate and ran them through the press. The second photo is the resulting unique print. Usually the plate would be washed off and inked again ready for a new design, but in this case I loved the effect of the rich colours on the plate so much that I decided to leave it exactly how it looked. It’s difficult to show the print off in a photo, but hopefully you’ll enjoy looking at it.
Curious conkers,
Prickly protection,
Secret affection.
Chivalrous chestnut,
Galloping eyes;
Smooth, sleek,
Fiery and meek;
Ghostly mane
Like a train
As the chestnut
Unicorn’s gaze
Fades into
The forest.
Beguiling begonias
Flirtatiously flaunting
Flippy, floppy
Flowers;
Fruity,
Fizzy,
Cascading
Citrus sherbets;
Ambrosial
Juicy jewels,
Adorning,
Magnificent
Devas’ curls.
Autumn festival
Unfurls.
Granny’s gate
Always open.
Skipping along
The cobbled path,
Brushing by
Candyfloss flowers
And lollypop lupins.
Icing sugar windows
Glisten.
West wind blows
Memories through
The front door;
Wibbly wobbly
Licorice beams
And painted furniture
For the three bears.
Rippling rose syrup
Ice cream topped
With sugar violets,
Savoured whilst
Wooed with
Tales of olden days
And recipes of
Dripping pink
Iced buns and
Drizzling
Lemon cake.
Whispers of
Garden Fairies
Painting dainty
Dust on playful
Plump plums,
Blushing berries
And sparkling
Strawberries.
Glowing gran
Kisses goodbye,
The vignette fades
To a hazy
Kaleidoscopic
Dream.
Nostalgia brings
Tears of joy,
Weeps away fears
And deeply
Heals.
Fairies are called by the
Fairy Queen to the top
Of the fairy staircase.
Two by two they wait
For the Queen, in the seat
Of her kingdom to magically
Release Fae Orbs of rainbow
Spangled light.
When a fairy sees her reflection
In the Orb , she smiles
And knows her next mission.
