Cobweb Cottage

Cobweb Cottage

Whispering welcoming echoes,

Purple smoke sweeps

Like spectres across

The threshold.

Firelight flickers,

Glowing chintzy cobwebs

Weeping waves

around window panes.

Twisted hazel,

Musty myrtle,

Wise woman’s cozy coven.

Over the last few nights, I have watched the moon grow full. I have been walking in it’s magical light and spooky shadows listening to nature’s snuffles and hoots. Tonight it is full,so I thought this little poem rather appropriate.

Lazy Sunday: Christmas cottage

image

I just thought I’d share with you this lovely christmas cottage, all lit up. I go past this jolly home every evening on my regular dog walk around the village, it puts me in a festive mood. It’s lovely that people make the effort to cheer up the local community by putting on a colourful display.

Weekly photo challenge: Nostalgia: Memory cottage

photo challenge, ‘nostalgic’image

Granny’s gate
Always open.
Skipping along
The cobbled path,
Brushing by
Candyfloss flowers
And lollypop lupins.
Icing sugar windows
Glisten.

West wind blows
Memories through
The front door;
Wibbly wobbly
Licorice beams
And painted furniture
For the three bears.
Rippling rose syrup
Ice cream topped
With sugar violets,
Savoured whilst
Wooed with
Tales of olden days
And recipes of
Dripping pink
Iced buns and
Drizzling
Lemon cake.

Whispers of
Garden Fairies
Painting dainty
Dust on playful
Plump plums,
Blushing berries
And sparkling
Strawberries.

Glowing gran
Kisses goodbye,
The vignette fades
To a hazy
Kaleidoscopic
Dream.

Nostalgia brings
Tears of joy,
Weeps away fears
And deeply
Heals.
