Replenishing Rapeseed

Rapeseed replenishes,

Energises.

Clouds of buttery yellow billow;

Brimstones and Commas drenched

In honeyed pollen,

Wings tilting elegantly

Dancing in sunshine.

Unfortunately those gorgeous delicate butterflies won’t linger long enough! But it is wonderful to watch them.

Rapeseed oil I hear is very good for us, especially if it is cold pressed. It can help painful joints.

Happy Easter all! 🙂

Rainbow dew

rainbow dewShivering,

Inkblot sky,

Drenching its thirst

With a candle glow like burst:

A shimmering birth,

Arcing the universe

As rainbow dew

Soaks the earth,

Infusing hope

And

Rejuvenation.

It is always a special moment watching a rainbow appearing on the horizon, then fading into a calming sky followed by a sunburst. Even though I was drenched, I felt rejuvenated by its luminosity and beauty.

Cowparsley dream

Image

Cowparsley dream

Cavorting capriciously
In a Cowparsley cloud,
Voraciously darting
About; proudly
Singing aloud.
Shrouded in baby bunny-
Fine fluff,
Dreaming of silken
Butterflies,
Preening on
Milky filigree
Tufts.

When walking in the countryside around the beautiful sleepy hamlet of Bygrave with my friend and our three dogs, we took a footpath through a copse which was filled with Cowparsley. We trailed through a cloud of fluffy tufts, a dreamy, magical maze.

Lazy Sunday: Printmaking-poppy

image

I had great pleasure in messing about with inks and a beautiful old printing press to produce ‘poppy’, inspired by the poppies in one of my photographs and poetry early this summer.  I remember a lovely sunny walk with the dogs through a meadow in one of Northamptonshire’s most rural, unspoilt landscapes where butterflies danced with each other and I felt lulled by the comfort of the bees buzzing around, busy at work. I hope you enjoy my monotype print.

Spirit of summer

image

Surrounded by summer blooms,
A perfectly secreted
Scented summer seat
Inspires a stolen siesta.
Sleepy eyelids bathe in
Warm lapis and
Lavender,
Inducing imaginative
Dreams;
Doves dozing,
Herons plunging,
Children’s
Bubbly babble.
Wafting petals,
Summer snow;
The ministry of bees
Indulging in
Pollen heaven.
An enchanting
Party of
Butterflies
Enjoying
A  tipsyTarantella.
Sunshine shimmers
A fizzy glimmer of
Fairy dust
As devas’
Mischeviously
Dive in
And out
Of Delphiniums’
Drunken trumpets.

Floral Thursday: Summer sensation

image

Every now and again, I think I’ll have a floral Thursday, just for a change.
Yesterday when I was out walking, I felt the change in the air and a slight sadness that in a few weeks the colours will begin to fade, the floral aromas will lessen and eventually we will say goodbye to the butterflies and the bees until next year; so, I decided to celebrate summer with this montage of some of the colourful photos that I have enjoyed taking.
I hope you enjoy them too, with a cup of tea, Pims, lemonade or glass of wine.

Running Free

image

Running free
In fields of dreams,
Through delicate meadow
Flowers:
Curious cornflowers
And dallying daisies;
Butterflies,  zig zagging,
Tagging and
Surfing summer
Breezes.

Sharing their fun,
On tiptoes I run,
Through seas
Of seeds crackling;
Caressing chamomile;
Blinking bumblebees;
Hovering Damselflies,
An appreciative audience!

Time to leave
The dusty glowing
Shifting shades
Of summer:
The meadow’s
Melodious
Meditations.

Adorable Aliums

image

Adorable Aliums
Admirably
Watchful,
Waiting
For
Westerly
Breezes
To bring
Beating
Butterflies,
Bashfully
Languishing;
Feasting
In the shimmering
Sunshine.

Worn oak
Gardener’s door,
Wise,
Warm,
Memories
Of ancient
Forests,
A cool,
Comfortable
Note.

A key is turned:
Nature’s
Alchemy
Is unleashed;
Sophorific scents
From chamomile
Carpets,
Cheerful chickory
‘Cheek by jowel’
By jostling jewels:
Nasturtiums,
Echinacea
And towering
Sunflowers.

Weekly Photo challenge: Nature’s my companion

image

A cuckoo wakes me
From my slumber,
Sunbeams warm
My face,
I venture out
To my garden
Brimming
With cherished
Cottage garden
Flowers,
Shades of
Fondant fancies
and
Tumbling
Roses, frilly
Favourites
Of my youth.
Gathering
Notebook
And camera,
I start the
Adventure
With my
Collies
At my side.
We walk
Along the
Country lane,
Surrounded
By white confetti
Hedgerows.
Cabbage White
And Orange tip,
Dart about
Like inquisitive
Chaperones.
When evening comes
In sultry moans,
The breeze intones
A lulling soft woe;
Stillness follows
In soft focus
Dimming daylight.
I sit undisturbed
To soak up nature,
Forever
My companion.

The weekly challenge is to post a photograph which is inspired by the word ‘companionable’. As usual I’ve written a poem to match my photo. I hope you enjoy it.daily-prompt-companionable
