Love spring

Spring explodes

Singing, zinging,
Loads of mingling,
Icecream pinks twinkling,
Dreamy violas’ winking.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandonment

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandonment

Grand anchor,
Languishing abandoned,
Sinking in silt and shingle;
Seeping salty tales
Of billowing sails
On crescendo gales.
Breached and reached
Barnacle braille
Tales of whales
And ancient
Sailors’ ways.

First blustery blossom

Image

First blustery

First blossom,
Scenting
Blustery mornings
Like freshly
Laundered linen.
Fairy bride’s millinery,
Glowing with
Knowing fragility
Sewing silver
Threads
Around
Bethrothed heads,
Beginning
Of March,
They be wed.

Orange

The colour ‘orange’, the theme of Cee’s weekly photo challenge for this week. How does the colour orange make you feel?   Orange makes me feel creative and gives me the energizing sunshine filling my heart. orange

Wet wanderings

kimpton cottages

As rain ran in rivers,

Drips glistened from

tree branches like

Pearls.

Steam puffed from

cottages,

a dragon sleeping

perhaps!

Cats curled up

on plump sofas,

Chinks through chintz,

Wood smoke weaving

Winter whispers.

Cobweb cottage

Higgledy piggledy;

Whiskers wiggling

Titmouse twitching,

A lonely weathered seat,

Perfect for siesta,

Awaits  a

Change in the weather

Every day has been a wet grey day this week;the fields have been soggy and even the dogs have been fed up of getting muddy! For a change I decided to visit a friend and go for a  walk round the quiet old village of Kimpton in Hertfordshire; my photos inspired me to write this poem as did my feelings about that damp, dark day, its smells, sounds and the ghostly cottages by the churchyard on the green.

It’s my birthday today, so how better than to share my village ramble with you!  I also enjoyed coffee and cake this morning and my tranquil yoga class and the day is not yet over!

Ice dance

Ice dance

Ice fairies

Flaunting glamorous feather boas.

Dancing on tip toes,

Timorously pirouetting

On ice crusted brambles,

Sledging zealously

Down frosty

Branches.

Golden glaze

Frozen paws

Tread gingerly in the furrows.

Rabbits huddle in their burrows.

Golden glaze,

Clairvoyance gaze,

Ethereal haze.

Fairies skating,

Sunbeam drenching;

Melting,

Squeaking,

Cracks

Splits.

Treats,

Tricks,

Whistle,

Licks!

We loved our walk across the frozen field, I hope you enjoy walking with me.

Waiting

This photograph was inspired by Ese’s photo prompt ‘waiting’.  I like the way the birds look as if they are queuing and waiting for something to happen.  My Border Collie is waiting in anticipation too.  Even in St.Albans we have had flooding as you can see in the photo. I hope you enjoy the peaceful setting.

Furry Friday

Furry Friday

Over the festive period, in between periods of very heavy rain, we tried to find places to walk which weren’t flooded or too boggy to pass even in the wellies! One day I had a craving to go to the coast so we went to Southwold in Suffolk, a jolly traditional seaside town. We had great fun playing with the dogs on the beach followed by freshly brewed coffee at the harbour and a purchase of fish, fresh from the boats. Another day we walked along the canal-side at Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire where I came across a cat on a ‘hot tin roof’ of a narrow-boat, enjoying the warmth from the rare moment of sunshine. The third photo of the beautiful lone horse who enjoyed some attention, was taken near a walk along a disused railway at Ayot green, a tiny picturesque village in Hertfordshire. I hope you enjoy looking at my furry friends!
