Midsummer cheers…

Midsummer meadows cheers our hearts.

Bees reeling in floppy poppies,

Quaint corn cockles and radiant daisies jostle with lazy scabious

Lofty butterflies surf the breeze filled with meadowsweet mist.

Wishing seeds glimmer in honeyed rays,

Teazels  sentinels of the fields, guard the wildflower maze.

Haystacks rest on dusty fields waiting for midsummer to heal.

Enjoy midummer days and long warm evenings.

Delicate Dragonfly

Delicate dragonfly’s  iridescent wings like

rainbow beings, flying  high in angelic beams;

Dancing with filigree seeds like snowflakes and pearly beads.

Entranced by glistening tears on ‘Old man’s beard’,

 Gliding golden speckled skies;

riding the tide of sighs,

Seeking sophorific  berries
Juicy  as cherries.

Winter’s crystals

Winter crystals like
Shimmering tinsel;
Fizzing sherbet on dark
Lush leaves.
Silver stars on a golden sceptre:
Towering crispy seeds.

I took these photos in my garden this morning because when I looked out of the window on a crystal dusted winterland, I couldn’t resist rushing out to capture the moment. The winter in England has been so mild this year, it’s so very special to have a frosty morning. Enjoy. 🙂

Winter glow

image

There is no snow
To give a gentle glow
Upon the tangled hedgerow,
However a yield of
Old man’s beard
Frames the far off fields
With tufts of wintry seeds,
Which drift and twinkle
In the breeze.

We’ve had such a mild Xmas and New year here in the UK and I’ve craved that childhood wonder of walking in crunchy snow as snowflakes melt on my lips and glisten like tiny jewels on the hedgerows.
We were lucky to be  introduced to this incredible ancient and magical area by our friends in Cople, who took us for an amazing walk along the old Icknield way and up to the Pegston hills and Deacon hill, which are a nature reserve and part of the Chilterns area of outstanding natural beauty. We will return many times to walk our dogs, enjoy the scenery change as spring brings it’s colour to the chalk hills.

Frosty seeds and winter trees

image

This Solar print was inspired by my moonlit frosty dog walks. The seedheads were encrusted with ‘fairy dust’ reaching out to the moon.

This solar print was inspired by my photos of trees in winter, taken In what I call the ‘Fairy wood’; a beautiful, quiet, well planted woodland where we often walk. Every day there is something new to see. The Green Woodpecker has been a recent visitor. My dogs love to chase squirrels and jump over the piles of logs, the woodland is a natural Green Gym.

Roaring Tourmaline wintery skies

roaring tourmaline winter skies

Limbs of whimsical trees

Stretch and seemingly sneeze,

Retching in the icy breeze.

Through arches of Larch,

Over finials and pinnacles

Starlet particles dart

With elementals,

Soaring into a roaring

Tourmaline wintery

Infinity.
