The colour ‘orange’, the theme of Cee’s weekly photo challenge for this week. How does the colour orange make you feel? Orange makes me feel creative and gives me the energizing sunshine filling my heart.

First the enhanced photo. I uploaded the original photo to Snapseed, a free photo editing tool to sharpen the original a tad then I used a bright filter to add drama. I then uploaded this image to Pics art where you can do lots of funky things, but I mainly use it for borders and special effects when I want to add atmosphere and also if I want to create montages or multi-photos in one frame as yesterday’s post. I used a vignette, a Bokeh24 mask and border 23. I hope you enjoy the result,
Here’s the original taken in a nature reserve in Northamptonshire. Which do you prefer?

January 26th 2013
As the nights draw in in December, I feel it is a time for reflection and so I have decided to look back over my first year of blogging with wordpress and post a selection of pictures and writing, quotes and poems. It’s funny how these first walks in the countryside armed with at the time my phone camera and a small notepad, have come flooding back to me and reminded me of the peace and tranquillity of these special moments in the day when it was all mine to find the ‘essence’ and write from my heart. I hope you enjoy anyway!
A Winter Patchwork
Winter sky,
Diamond sparkling,
Patchwork fields
Fluffy,
Snugly snow,
Cattle gather
Munching
in furrows aglow.
January 24th 2013
Bright and Cheerful.
Nature’s signpost
Tells us to
Look deeper
At the warmth
Love
And light
Shining within.

Reflections
On these icy days,
Thaw and remember
Those around us
who may need us.
I was told that this beautiful owl didn’t like having his picture taken. He was very grumpy with another photographer, however unexpectedly, the wise owl wasn’t put off when I asked him politely for permission to take his photo. Isn’t he mysterious and gorgeous!

I had great pleasure in messing about with inks and a beautiful old printing press to produce ‘poppy’, inspired by the poppies in one of my photographs and poetry early this summer. I remember a lovely sunny walk with the dogs through a meadow in one of Northamptonshire’s most rural, unspoilt landscapes where butterflies danced with each other and I felt lulled by the comfort of the bees buzzing around, busy at work. I hope you enjoy my monotype print.
Adorable Aliums
Admirably
Watchful,
Waiting
For
Westerly
Breezes
To bring
Beating
Butterflies,
Bashfully
Languishing;
Feasting
In the shimmering
Sunshine.
Worn oak
Gardener’s door,
Wise,
Warm,
Memories
Of ancient
Forests,
A cool,
Comfortable
Note.
A key is turned:
Nature’s
Alchemy
Is unleashed;
Sophorific scents
From chamomile
Carpets,
Cheerful chickory
‘Cheek by jowel’
By jostling jewels:
Nasturtiums,
Echinacea
And towering
Sunflowers.
Giggling geraniums,
Curvacious,
Oozing a heady bouquet,
Tumbling in tiers.
An extravaganza in pink!
They transcend into
A pageant of players
From a vintage musical,
Dancing to Dixieland,
Stunning the audience
With luxuriant fuchsia smiles,
Proudly, provocative,
Swaggering their curves.
I am interested in how nature triggers the imagination by synergistically tempting the senses, thus releasing creative energy to produce photographs which evoke inspirational poetry. This photo was taken in a nineteenth century orangery. Initially I was drawn to the voluptuous curves of the flowers, cascading in an amazing display and their intense aroma, which captivated me to take the photo and then create the poem. I hope you enjoy my post.
