Lingering in a woodland on a sultry spring day

I hope you enjoy my post. The weather has been warm so we’ve been exploring our woodland pathways. As ever, I am inspired so much by my walkhs in the surrounding countryside whilst enjoying the company of my dogs; sometimes joined by my husband and friends.

Holly hocks ball

Ruby red holly hocks,

Silk swirling frocks,

Mingling at the summer ball.

A scented breeze,

Timely sends bursting buds to

Rest upon the lawn.

Purposely the lover places them in

A wicker box, ties it tight with forget-me-nots;

With red rose ink he pens

‘Holly meet me tonight at the folly’.

The story begins.

Summer colour in the cottage garden

Magnificent Magnolias

Magnolia Stillata, so whistful, trailing old bricks.

Magnolia Stillata, so whistful, trailing old bricks.

Magnificent Magnolias,

Boldly looming.

Unfolding like fine

Scented silk.

A festival of pink petal plumes,

Soothing,

Hearts of spring.

How grand is this gorgeous Georgian property, framed with a confetti of delicately scented Magnolia I drive past this house every day. I love the gates and front door too.

The new home fireplace. A beautiful Victorian original , which now makes our cottage so cosy.

Love the contrast of the flowers against the tiles of my little Victorian out building.

Such a beautiful surprise, a fabulous flowering Magnolia in our courtyard.

And the meandering branches and their natural pattern, juxtapositioned against the roof of my Victorian cottage.

Just popped in the photos of my fireplace to update you on the cottage renovations and to apologise for not posting!  There are so much wonderful changes as spring gets under way with the warmer weather, here in the South UK. I hope all of you living in other countries where it is cooler at the moment are are keeping cosy. 🙂
