Winter glow

image

There is no snow
To give a gentle glow
Upon the tangled hedgerow,
However a yield of
Old man’s beard
Frames the far off fields
With tufts of wintry seeds,
Which drift and twinkle
In the breeze.

We’ve had such a mild Xmas and New year here in the UK and I’ve craved that childhood wonder of walking in crunchy snow as snowflakes melt on my lips and glisten like tiny jewels on the hedgerows.
We were lucky to be  introduced to this incredible ancient and magical area by our friends in Cople, who took us for an amazing walk along the old Icknield way and up to the Pegston hills and Deacon hill, which are a nature reserve and part of the Chilterns area of outstanding natural beauty. We will return many times to walk our dogs, enjoy the scenery change as spring brings it’s colour to the chalk hills.

Yule decorations

image

Picked from the hedgerows near our village, the simple foliage beautifully decorates my Yule wreath. Below is my heart of Yule indoor wreath. I love the simple art of wreath making, anyone can do it by walking about the countryside and  selecting fresh foliage some with berries to cut gently with secateurs.   Remember to thank nature for it’s offerings to you and you’ll enjoy your foliage and berries for the entire festive season. You can also attach pearls and other crystals, dried fruit and ribbons or burlap.

Happy Yule. Happy winter solstice, thanksgiving and christmas when it comes. Love from Lavender Moon. 🙂 🙂

A word a week photo challenge ‘window’ – ‘Down the garden path’.

I loved walking along this garden path discovering the magic of the cottage garden.Look how the Buddlea draws us closer to the open blue framed bedroom window. Perhaps an artist is sitting there painting the view and enjoying the scented summer. For me, experiencing this hideaway garden was a very special moment. I hope you enjoy it too. 🙂

Furry Friday

What could be better than watching my dog weaving through the meadow! A beautiful breezy day with a few menacing clouds to complete the scene.

Essence of Presence

Essence of presence

Preserved momentarily.

Precious and precarious,

Language of otherworldlyness.

How cathartic torrential rain can be. Even though I got soaked I felt closer to nature. All my senses became enhanced. It was a wonderful experience. Enjoy.:-)

Lavender tinted pillows

Of wild water mint,

Reach over the banks.

Willowherb whiskers

Hissing in the sweet

Seasonal breeze.

Teasels and sensual

Seeds drift

Like a misty moon.

Serene Saturday: Cerulean Cornflowers

2014-07-12 15.03.46-1_1

Cerulean cornflowers

Sedately soaring like

Sapphire stars;

Touring tourmaline

Skies.

An old Egyptian legend tells us that  tourmaline, on its way up from the centre of the earth, passed over a rainbow. So that’s why  it is still referred to as the ‘gemstone of the rainbow’.

Toumaline in crystal therapy is known to heal the mind.

Floral Thursday: Lofty Lavender

2014-06-29 13.08.34-1_1

Lofty Lavender,

Softly wafting.

A procession of

Purple pinnacles.

Silky,

Willowy,

Waving.

Forgive me for my lack of posts just lately, my mum isn’t very well and although I find my walks very relaxing, sometimes I feel too tired to post. 🙂 I took this photograph in a beautiful garden in Benington in Hertfordshire, I loved the procession of lavender and the sculpture through the archway.

Soulful Roses

_104 _106 _110Soulful roses,

Lover’s tipsy posies

They sip dewy petal potions

As their rouched lips

Whisper

A tryst…

Betroval.
