Festive feast

Festive feast
Peeping lavishly,
Dripping luscious,
Succulent scarlet
Berries;
Merry amongst
Evergreens.
Seek for a wreath,
Woven with holly
To greet revellers,
Jingling reindeer
And tingling fairies.

Diva Dahlia,
Winter white
Snowflake,
Close,
Poised,
Piroetting ice
Fairy’s toes:
Leaving a trail
Of gold.

Floral Thursday: Fortuitous Fuchsia

image

Fortuitous fuchsia,
Fascinating;
Fastidious;
Fanciful!
Whimsical wings;
Stamens sing;
A wish in the wind:
Lingering twinkling,
Fairy dust glittering,
Delicate bells tinkling.

NaBloPoMo: Faery moon

image

Just for a change I thought I’d blog about a fun way of making art. This painterly printing technique is called ‘Monotype’. It has this name because each print is unique. The ink is rolled out on the metal plate (see top photo), then using brushes, fingers or rags, marks can be made to create a painting or design on the plate. In my monotype, ‘Faery moon’ I used the end of a paintbrush, my finger and a small palette knife to get the picture I wanted to create. Actually Faery moon just seemed to emerge like magic, much like my poetry. I love the colours!  The messy process finished, I put paper onto the plate and ran them through the press. The second photo is the resulting unique print. Usually the plate would be washed off and inked again ready for a new design, but in this case I loved the effect of the rich colours on the plate so much that I decided to leave it exactly how it looked. It’s difficult to show the print off in a photo, but hopefully you’ll enjoy looking at it.

NaBloPoMo:Furry Friday: Furry Ramble

image

Rambling,
Sampling woodland’s
Mysterious planting.
A green woodpecker
Catches my eye,
Feasting on the forest floor,
Fleeting through an
Oak nook ‘door’.
The collies love to roam
Chasing off a forest gnome,
A robin red breast hops,
Flopping amongst the moss.
Squirrels scramble in the leaves
Time to amble home for tea.

Beguiling begonias

image

Beguiling begonias
Flirtatiously flaunting
Flippy, floppy
Flowers;
Fruity,
Fizzy,
Cascading
Citrus sherbets;
Ambrosial
Juicy jewels,
Adorning,
Magnificent
Devas’ curls.
Autumn festival
Unfurls.

Virtuous Verbena

image

Vivacious,
Elegantly elfin like
Sugar pink posies,
Fancy for fairy
Princesses palaces.
Fragrant, finespun,
Flavour of marzipan;
Magnificent minutiae
Of nature’s manuscript.

Spirit of summer

image

Surrounded by summer blooms,
A perfectly secreted
Scented summer seat
Inspires a stolen siesta.
Sleepy eyelids bathe in
Warm lapis and
Lavender,
Inducing imaginative
Dreams;
Doves dozing,
Herons plunging,
Children’s
Bubbly babble.
Wafting petals,
Summer snow;
The ministry of bees
Indulging in
Pollen heaven.
An enchanting
Party of
Butterflies
Enjoying
A  tipsyTarantella.
Sunshine shimmers
A fizzy glimmer of
Fairy dust
As devas’
Mischeviously
Dive in
And out
Of Delphiniums’
Drunken trumpets.

Weekly photo challenge: Nostalgia: Memory cottage

photo challenge, ‘nostalgic’image

Granny’s gate
Always open.
Skipping along
The cobbled path,
Brushing by
Candyfloss flowers
And lollypop lupins.
Icing sugar windows
Glisten.

West wind blows
Memories through
The front door;
Wibbly wobbly
Licorice beams
And painted furniture
For the three bears.
Rippling rose syrup
Ice cream topped
With sugar violets,
Savoured whilst
Wooed with
Tales of olden days
And recipes of
Dripping pink
Iced buns and
Drizzling
Lemon cake.

Whispers of
Garden Fairies
Painting dainty
Dust on playful
Plump plums,
Blushing berries
And sparkling
Strawberries.

Glowing gran
Kisses goodbye,
The vignette fades
To a hazy
Kaleidoscopic
Dream.

Nostalgia brings
Tears of joy,
Weeps away fears
And deeply
Heals.

Wildwood fantasy

image

My childhood fantasy
Took me to the wildwood
Of my dreams.
Here in the wildwood
Existed earth
Sprites and nymphs.
I glimpsed them
Dancing and
Singing mysteriously.
I wished I was
Part of their world.
