Sensual Sloes

sensual sloes

Sensual Sloes,

Juicy and black

Like crows.

Lucid in

Tangled ancient

Hedgerows.

I have been watching these delicious sloes ripen as I walk past with my dogs every day. Soon I’ll be harvesting them and steeping them in gin. It has been a lovely summer for fruits and nuts.

        • I’ll have to try Rosehip gin especially as Rosehips are such a good source of vitamin C. I’m not a fan of Vodka and yet there are lovely recipes to try. To be honest we don’t drink much anyway, we just love making food and drinks from the hedgerows and garden. I hope you have a lovely weekend Sue. πŸ™‚

            • I hope you enjoyed making your pie. The Goat’s cheese and spinach quiche sounds delicious. I’ll see if I can make a gluten-free version and also use goat’s milk instead of cow’s milk. What do you think…could it work Sue?

              • I do not see why not.. I have used Almond milk before within a quiche and so long as there are eggs it worked and set ok.. πŸ™‚ And I found a recipe for you http://www.gimmesomeoven.com/dairy-free-vegetable-quiche-with-eggs/
I just fry some onions in a little oil then add a couple of chopped gloves of garlic towards end of onions being cooked.. Crumble the goats cheese in the precooked pastry base.. ( I often cheat and buy the ready rolled pastry lol ) And then beat two large eggs a half pint of liquid Milk which you want to use.. I roughly chop up around 8 oz of Spinach which seems alot but its not, add to the onions and garlic until wilted down and then spread into your flan dish.. whip up eggs and milk together with seasoning to taste and pour over your toppings.. I usually cook mine on a Fan oven of 160 for about 40 mins until set and browning slightly on top….. Even Hubby loves this one either hot or cold πŸ™‚ xxx

I will be trying it out soon. πŸ™‚ Thank you very much…I really feel comfort food is going to be on the menu. I have been given a fabulous, huge marrow by my neighbour and will play about with filling tasty mixture to have with a veggie gravy. I hope you’ve had a good day. πŸ™‚ x
