Lullaby Iris

Lullaby Iris
Lilting sweet tones,
Gently rocking.

Lullaby Iris,
Comforting, caressing,
A galleon gliding on
A serene
And misty sea,
Exploring eternity,
Gently rocking.

Lullaby Iris,
Sweetly scented pillows,
Palest, pearlescent blue,
Romancing, dreaming,
Gently rocking.

Lullaby Iris,
Fairies frolicking
To mesmerizing melodies
Played by the fledgling lutist,
Flying on filigree clouds,
Gently rocking.

  1. This is such a lovely lullaby! When my children were little I sang several different ones to them. I guess I didn’t damage them, as they all play instruments now. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you for your lovely comment Wendy. My son loved lullabies too. I made them up! My family are all very musical. It’s such a lovely, gentle gift to have. Blessings

  2. This reads exactly like a lullaby, it has a melody and harmony all of its own. Nature writing at its best, wonderful πŸ™‚ x

  3. Wow. I know you said that I could do this if I tried. But I’m here to tell you that there is no way that I could write a poem like this. (For some reason, none of the like buttons loads on any post I’ve read today, so consider this a like.)

    • Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you’re enjoying my ramblings. You do what you do extremely well! Keep up the good work! I should try to do what you do……

  4. Loved the line ……….A galleon gliding on a serene and misty sea, I have one plant of these wonderful flowers we call them flags… and the plant came originally from my grandfathers garden… Its been uprooted and brought with us on house moves… and is just starting to flower.. πŸ™‚
Loved your very descriptive poem that fitted the flower so well… πŸ™‚

    • I’m glad you enjoyed reading my poem so much, thank you. It’s lovely that you have a ‘flag’, from your grandfather’s garden, what a wonderful piece of living memory. I think they’re called flags too!
